Don't worry about it

Excerpt from My Utmost for His Highest:

"I say to you, do not worry about your life . . . ." Our Lord says to be careful only about one thing-our relationship to Him. But our common sense shouts loudly and says, "That is absurd, I must consider how I am going to live, and I must consider what I am going to eat and drink." Jesus says you must not. Beware of allowing yourself to think that He says this while not understanding your circumstances. Jesus Christ knows our circumstances better than we do, and He says we must not think about these things to the point where they become the primary concern of our life. Whenever there are competing concerns in your life, be sure you always put your relationship to God first.

The life of the nomad

Setteled in? Can't really say. I still don't have a wall or a door... but blue tarmacs are cool too; got my nice little "bed", well a thin matress with sheets and covers right beside the heater; have a nice table assortment of campbells, canned tuna, chrispers and pop; set up my desk with printer, speaker and miscellaneous electronics... and my fridge even has food! So i guess I'm settled in...

Why am I blogging? is this going to turn into some herman ranting page where one will fear to visit... or will it be a visit into the inner physcology of herman in which one will get lost... Hopefully it will be a nice balance between the two. a friend back in montreal asked me to email her when i'm finally settled in... and i figured as i do that, might as well give a nice little update with what's happening with my nomadic life. I guess this was a mass-email that metamorphosized into a blog.

Backtracking a bit, it seems like forever since I was in Lachenaie going "po chan" with my godbrother at Future Shop. good times.... (tip: if you want to go broke, ask to go shopping with me on boxing week.) with that, there was still time for a few movies here and there, a game of pool at that spheretech billard place... and next thing I knew, I was at Toronto being woken up by this parrot that kept on saying "jo sun" at 7:30 in the morning... (that parrot spoke more chinese than my friend!!! :P.... and yes, my friend's chinese).... and it would go "wai" every single time the phone would ring... -> serious, that parrot looked a little apetizing from time to time... i don't think my relatives would be too happy considering they're vegetarians. I made my trek up to Aurora for an interview to find out the next day that I didn't get the job. So great... stuck in Toronto with a million chinese ppl and one chinese speaking parrot, paradise was life... errr NO!

You remember how as kids, you played tag -> you're it!!! haha... anyways, you know you're a university student when you're playing tag with a professor via email. i figured as the situation stood, i might as well volunteer and get a coop credit back in Waterloo... within days, i found a volunteer position, a house (with a missing wall and door... covered with blue tarmacs) and going into more debt - oh the life of a university student. city hopping... the urban nomad, it's the new lifestyle. it's definately a contrast from the life of being born and raise on the island... yes, montreal's an island.

so hopping on the 401... ONCE AGAIN... it's waterloo-bound .. but this time around, it's different - there's snow, some friends are gone, my circumstance of being here was different... (did i mention, i didn't have a wall?)... but seriously, the first week being back here was so rough... volunteering with WARG (the waterloo aerial robotics team) was frustrating to say the least. I didn't have set time or tasks and my hours were all over the place... i was bitter and jealous for not having a real job... why am i in this situation? I couldn't find an answer and I didn't know what positives the experiences this semester has in store. I was looking through the wrong pair of glasses.... i acknowledge i was trying too hard by myself to get everything to work out and make sense and i was trying to carry all this burden by myself... when in fact God's been waiting for me ask him for help... To say the least, looking at everything and how big a mess it was (at least in my head).... i took off the old pair and put on a new pair of glasses... it's my prayer that i will see a vision for this semester and the rest of the year to come... in tuned with Him... growing and being purified to be more of a reflection of him. montreal has always been my confort zone; they say how when you're put in a totally new environment, it can either make you or break you... it really makes you when you realize how much you really need Him in the bigger picture of finest details in life. This life of a nomad, this life of mine... in his hands.
