food, oh how i love the food

one of the best parts of going back home to montreal is enjoying its food. SO GOOD and SO CHEAP. and the better part is bringing it back for people and see their excitement and anticipation to dig in to those bagels, smoke meat, apple pies and cheesecakes. okay, so the apples pies and cheesecakes are from the big apple pies... but they en route to/from montreal. for the record, i came back with

6 lbs of SCHWARTZ's smoke meat (montreal's finest)
7 and 1/2 dozen of ST-VIATERUR's bagels (also montreal's finest)
2 apple pies from the BIG APPLE (best apple pie on the 401)
4 apple almond cheesecakes from the BIG APPLE (best of it's kind on the 401)
1/2 lb of cha siu
1/2 lb of siu yoke
1/2 a siu ap
box of rice and potatoes
box of chinese buns
strainer of plums
strainer of grapes

...this is like free advertisement for these places! (I SHOULD GET PAID FOR THIS :P)

the foods

the bagels

i should serioulsy start a business... just buy montreal foods, go to SLC and sell them... perhaps i can pay for tuition with the profits!! hmm.. OR... i wonder how much you can ebay a montreal bagel for??!! THINK of the possibilities!!

and just to let you know, the foods are NOT all for me, i'm not that crazy... not yet at least. coming back in tim's van, i had the most lugage and aside from my school bag, laptop and suit... the rest was foods.. there was like at least seven bags of food. it was so GREAT. food is great and you know why? it has that tendancy to bring a smile on someone's face... and that's always nice : ) anyone up for dinner!?

rockin' it up in montreal

HOME!!

oh yeah baby.. feels great to see familiar faces.. family and friends.

came back for a wedding and i ended up helping out with the sound system. i loved it!! got to work again with my man sam. haven't sat in the sound booth with my man since june. according to him, i was "decommisioned"... okay there bro. show you decommissioned man... anyways, we rocked up the A/V. nothing too complicated, but man.. it felt GOOD to be back. and plus they upped the system since i left.. it's so sweet.. computer controlled LCD projector.. gyroscopic mouse.. and our church finally has monitors - so exciting. but they need to get some monitor positionning figured out - high risk feedback not nice. anyways, all sweet stuff.

sam at the board

the frenchie

it's funny whenever i meet someone for the first time and i tell them i'm from montreal. first thing that ALWAYS comes up:

you're from quebec?!?! wow, your french must be really good!

and i'm there wondering what else they must be pondering about:

1. Do you eat poutine?
2. This guy speaks pretty good English for a frenchie
3. Wonder if he's a seperatist

I actually had someone asked if i was a seperatist, and just for kicks, i told them i was.

but seriously, here are the facts about quebec:
1. There ARE english speaking people there
2. Not everyone speaks french, though they might understand it better than most people in Canada
3. We are not all seperatists (if we were, quebec would be it's own country now... wouldn't that be nice?)
4. montreal drivers aren't bad drivers, they're just aggresive... there's a difference
5. I must admit, you usually get better service if you speak in french (given you don't make a fool of yourself)
6. Roads in quebec DO suck, no argument there... pothole galore
7. high school is grade 7 to 11.. then you go to two years of CEGEP before university
8. we call the G1 a "learner's licence", G2 a "probationary licence", G a "driver's licence"... everything's the same except you don't have to take a test to get the G equivalent... you automatically get it after two years of having the G2 equivalent
9. there ARE a lot of sex shops in downtown.. there's a strip club on every street on the main street downtown - what the dealio?
10. montreal's an ISLAND!
11. it's pharmaprix, not shoppers drug mart
12. bureau en grow, not staples

on the side note... i wonder what would happen if quebec seriously seperated? i'd have to be an international student at the university... *sigh*

let...

I cast all my cares upon You
I lay all of my burdens, down at Your feet.
And anytime that I don't know what to do:
I will cast all my cares upon You.

Pourquoi c'est tellement dur? Why's it so hard?... Laisse tout au Seigneur. Leave it all to Him.

Do your best and God will do the rest? Comment peux-je savoir what's my best? Conscience call. comes back to: suis-je la personne je veux ĂȘtre?... am i who i want to be?
